Marloo Bay
Marloo Bay extends from Waddy Point along Orchid Beach, around Ngkala Rocks. While it can be busy, we love nothing more than finding a spot away from everyone, setting up the awning, and cooking up some burgers, and watching the world go by.
Of course, there is so much to see and do in Marloo Bay other than just kicking back with the most obvious and most popular activity in Marloo Bay being fishing. Whiting, bream, flathead, tailor (depending on the time of year) are all on offer straight off the beach, or if you’re feeling adventurous try some rock fishing at Waddy Point.
If fishing is not your game, you could wander around the rocks at Waddy Point and explore the many nooks and caves. You could visit Ocean Lake, but be sure to take a kayak if you have one as there is a large area to explore.
If you’re a keen diver you may also like to check out the S.S, Marloo shipwreck which lies just of the beach near the northernmost down ramp from the Orchid Beach township.
Another favourite of many is to explore Ocean Creek or hang out at Ngkala Rocks and watch people get stuck.
Swimming is also an option at Waddy Point where the seas are tamed by the rocky headland. As the tide goes out, you are likely to come across shallow wading pools left behind, which are generally safe for a dip.
There are toilet facilities at Waddy Point campground so if you don’t have your own with you these are actually quite good.
